Million Dollar Baby

The other week, I went to see Clint Eastwood's new movie, "Million Dollar Baby." This is the movie getting all the Oscar buzz and you know that I am all about the Oscars.

Now the movie is getting criticism for something that happens in the third act of the movie. I will not reveal it. But let us just say that the movie takes this detour, a right turn, maybe a left turn - into a Different Plotsville and all of a sudden it is like "Whoa! This is no longer a boxing movie."

It was very good with excellent acting from Eastwood, Hillary Swank and Morgan Freeman. But it ends about as well as "Mystic River" ended. In other words, not so happy.

So see the movie but do NOT, I repeat NOT expect a "Rocky-type" of uplifting ending. And bring tissues.

OK, I haven't seen the movie, but I already know the ending -- through no fault of the nevertheless heinous-as-heck Rush Limbaugh or Michael Medved. I was curious and actually sought OUT the ending. (I'm a mommy, I never get to see movies til years after they're out anyway!)

It sounds quite interesting, quite sobering. Etc.

But I had to a titter over your term Different Plotsville. Har. I love that.
