GEORGE CLOONEY JOINS NBC FOR CHARITY
January 5, 2005
Hollywood stars, like GEORGE CLOONEY, are lining up to help NBC in the call to all Americans for tsunami disaster relief. ET has confirmed that the popular actor will be involved in the network's upcoming charity telethon, scheduled for 8 p.m. on January 15. Pop star SHERYL CROW, as well as country music singer TIM McGRAW, are also expected to join the cause, according to The New York Times. NBC plans to keep phone lines open throughout the hour-long nationally broadcast telethon so callers can pledge cash donations for victims of the recent tragedy. NBC Universal's cable networks, like MSNBC, CNBS, Bravo, Trio and the Sci-Fi channel, will also broadcast the event. Meanwhile, Formula One champion driver MICHAEL SCHUMACHER, whose bodyguard reportedly perished in the disaster, donated $10 million during a German telethon Tuesday.
